The Programme structure that will be followed in this Qualification is as follows:
SKILLS PROGRAMME 1: PROMOTION OF PERSONAL WELLBEING
Apply problem-solving techniques to make a decision or solve a problem in real life context.
Identify causes of stress and techniques to manage it in the workplace.
Apply established strategies and procedures to deal with risk behaviour and promote personal wellbeing.
Apply knowledge of interpersonal relationships to enhance the effectiveness of counselling process.
SKILLS PROGRAMME 2: COUNSELLING
Counsel an individual in a structured environment.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of an individual's rights in a specific context.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ethical and legal aspects relating to counselling.
Facilitate group counselling process.
Promote health and wellness in a selected context.
Screen a client to determine needs.
SKILLS PROGRAMME 3: HIV/AIDS AND STIS
Conduct a community needs assessment.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of HIV and AIDS, and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Tuberculosis (TB) for counselling purposes.
Demonstrate knowledge of dread diseases to effectively manage an infected or affected client.
Develop and implement a client ARV treatment plan.
Provide on-going counselling and support to individuals infected or affected by HIV and AIDS.
Provide pre and post HIV test counselling.
SKILLS PROGRAMME 4: COMMUNICATION 1
Accommodate audience and context needs in oral/signed communication.
Interpret and use information from texts.
Use language and communication in occupational learning programmes.
Write/present/sign texts for a range of communicative contexts.
SKILLS PROGRAMME 5: COMMUNICATION 2
Engage in sustained oral/signed communication and evaluate spoken/signed texts.
Read/review, analyse and respond to a variety of texts.
Use language and communication in occupational learning programmes.
Write/present/sign texts for a range of communicative contexts.
SKILLS PROGRAMME 6: MATHEMATICAL LITERACY
Apply knowledge of statistics and probability to critically interrogate and effectively communicate findings on life related problems.
Represent analyses and calculate shape and motion in 2-and-3 dimensional space in different contexts.
Use Mathematics to investigate and monitor the financial aspects of personal, business, national and internal issues.
B. National Certificate:
Occupational Health, Safety and Enviroment Safety
Purpose: Provide learners with skills and knowledge that will help identify, minor, advise and report on occupational safety factors, which may have harmful effect on the safety of workers in the workplace
