Item description
A SUPER, EARLY ‘33 SS DAGGER BY HERDER WITH ITS ORIGINAL VERTICAL HANGER.
This is one dagger that seems to be continuously in great demand. I was lucky enough to purchase this in America earlier this year, but have kept it until now as I really liked it myself!! A classic, early ‘33 SS dagger. At this time these were worn by both officers AND men. All nickel, uncleaned fittings. Perfect black ebony wood grip with nickel eagle and perfect enamel SS button. Lower crossguard marked with Roman numeral ’I’. Scabbard has all of the original black ‘anodised’ finish. The lower ball has a slight dent to one side. There is an original to the piece, early vertical hanger with nickel snap clip. You can see it’s been with this dagger for ever, as it’s moulded to the shape. Strangely, the original owner has placed the hanger on backward so the hanging ring on the scabbard in on the wearers right (or left if you are looking straight at the dagger). I have no idea if the hanger is marked inside as I have no intention of disturbing it from the scabbard! The blade is extremely nice with most of the original crossgrain polish.
